Clark Rubber is an Australian retail icon established 62 years ago and are leaders in the foam, rubber and above ground pool retail market. Chris Malcolm, the present owner and Managing Director, acquired the business name from Pacific Dunlop Ltd in 1995 and re-launched it as a chain of specialist retail stores modelled on the franchise business concept. His vision and enthusiasm ensured the rapid growth of the Clark Rubber franchised store network.

Clark Rubber's first franchised store was opened in Nunawading, Victoria in 1995, and a further 25 franchised stores opened nationally in the first 12 months of operation. To-day, Clark Rubber operates over 80 franchised stores nationally, with a gross turnover close to $100 Million, with a further 9 stores operating in New Zealand under the Para Rubber brand. According to the Franchise Council of Australia CEO, there are 850 franchise systems in Australia today with 64000 franchisees, employing 600 000 people and contributing $80 billion a year to the Australian economy. Financial Information

How much does a Clark Rubber franchise cost?

Clark Rubber will take you through each of the items that make up your investment in a Clark Rubber franchise package and advise you what you get for your money.

Total investment: Between $500,000 - $700,000 (depending on Location, showroom area and total stock required based on projected sales).

Deposit payable: Initial deposit of $2,000 as a sign of genuine interest by the potential franchisee (fully refundable if there is no further progress).

A second deposit of $5,000 is payable prior to proceeding to final stage. The total deposit of $7,000 will be adjusted against the payment of the full franchise fee.

Business establishment costs: Ranging between $410,000 to $610,000; (based on above criteria).

Other costs: Franchise fee: $60,000 + GST; Training $15,000; IT Software and Licences $15,000; Legal costs $5,000.

Guide to working capital required around $50,000.
