Eagle Boys Pizza stores across Queensland and New South Wales are in training for the kick-off of State of Origin 2009, with teams bolstered and extra supplies waiting in the wings for one of the biggest pizza nights of the year.

Eagle Boys Pizza is expecting to make more than 150,000 pizzas on Wednesday 3 June, up 100% on a normal Wednesday night.

To get across the line on the night, stores will use more than 16 tonnes of mozzarella cheese, 14 tonnes of pizza sauce and truckloads of fresh ingredients.

Eagle Boys Pizza National Marketing Manager Scott Hamilton said the fact that the first game of the series was being held in Melbourne would further spur pizza sales.

“Maroon and Blue supporters alike will be glued to their TVs from kick-off and looking to fuel their barracking with great tasting pizza,” he said.

“We’re really focused on coming out fighting and getting all orders out hard and fast on the night. For us, the orders start coming in early as people prepare for the match, and even after the final siren blows our stores will still be giving 100% as fans celebrate.

“Putting extra bite into our pizzas is the fact that they are larger than other pizza chains and use fresh ingredients to deliver a range of unique toppings.   We expect the Eagle Boys Works, Super Supremo and BBQ Meatlovers to be the Pizzas of the Match. Our new Chicken Club is also proving to be a bolter from the pack!

“For those celebrating on the night, the best match tip is to get your order in early. Customers are able to pre-order at some stores using our online ordering system at www.eagleboys.com.au for an everyday value price with no coupon required.”

Eagle Boys Pizza is one of Australia’s largest pizza makers and is 100% Australian-owned. It operates more than 275 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory, employing more than 4,000 staff and making more than 16 million pizzas a year.
