Franchisors name: Paul Antonelli
Name of franchise: Resicert

Tell us about when Resicert was established and the motivation behind it.
Business was started in May 2009 – there was a lack of quality, service focussed inspection services which were fast and used technology to deliver the best possible outcome to clients.

When and why did you decide to go down the franchise route?
Licensing model actually – The business grew rapidly and it was a business model that was able to deliver a high level of income and a quality of life income – made sense to use this approach to expand the business nationally

What have been the company’s biggest achievements/successes to date so far?
We are now Australia’s leading property inspection company having delivered over 13,000 inspections nationally. We have a customer satisfaction score of 9.2 out of 10 which confirms our focus on the client and service.

What challenges have you had to overcome?
Expanding the business nationally was a challenge due to the locality differences in the property market. Also working out the best fit for our Licensees and what it took for them to be able to grow and succeed in this business.

What marketing/promotional tools do you use to grow your franchise?
Everything available – from online, word of mouth, flyers, networking. We are always exploring new ways to promote.

What differentiates Resicert from the competition?
1.We have the highest level of automation and operational systems in place which enables our Licensees to focus on what makes money – promoting and inspecting – whilst achieving a work – life balance.
2.Our training is unmatched in the industry – we do all our training which has been developed on the support systems and what works best
3.We have the greatest team in place both supporting Licensees and our Licensees – this is the foundation of the business and what our reputation has been formed on
4.Continually innovating and looking at how we can make things faster, more efficient and better – we will shortly be ISO 9000 registered confirming our attention to systems and quality

In your opinion, what makes a successful Resicert franchisee?
1.The will to be independent and successful and take control of their own destiny
2.People skills and wanting to deliver high service – this is the difference between ok and great
3.Love technology and know-how to leverage it to get the best possible business outcomes
4.Wanting to learn new ways and is open to taking on board what has worked and following through with implementation

What changes have you seen in your industry over recent year? And how have you adapted to them?
There has been a higher demand for inspections – not just in one sector but also additional type of inspections. We have started to widen our services base so we can deliver more value to our clients. Clients want it fast and quick – we are focussed on being able to move quickly and deliver high quality – always

What does the future hold for Resicert?
We continue to expand the business nationally in all the major cities as well as regionally. We are currently rolling out our Timber Pest Inspection License Model in all states. We are currently exploring additional services for our business model which can add value to our licensees. We are on track to be the dominant inspection company in Australia.

What expansion plans have you got nationally and internationally?
See above – within 2 years we intend to expand the business internationally and have started preliminary investigations.

What advice would you give to someone considering franchising their business?
Be very clear on the WHY to franchise.

It is a phenomenal journey and will test and uncover any weakness in your business.

Get the basics and the foundation in place and then commence the roll out. Essential to get the right advice and people on board to ensure you can get the right structure and process for your business.

If you had to do it all again, what would you do differently?
Not much – always something with hindsight – but we would not be where we are if we played with too much!

Our rollout has involved learning and improving as we go which is what happens in all businesses, As we cross the 5 year mark we look forward to continuing to evolve and improve our brand and the offering to our clients.
