Franchising Leader Hosts Public Celebration of Franchising Industry Australia’s largest multi-brand retail food franchisor Retail Food Group (RFG) is hosting the nation’s biggest celebration of the franchising industry, a sector worth approximately $170 billion, on Sunday 25 September. Starting at 10am at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, the RFG Franchise Expo will treat the public to one huge day of free food and coffee, interactive activities, and informative presentations.

The RFG Franchise Expo presents a unique opportunity for the public to get up close and personal with some of the country’s most well-loved brands including Donut King, Brumby’s Bakery, Michel’s Patisserie, Gloria Jean’s Coffees, Pizza Capers, Crust Gourmet Pizza and Di Bella Coffee. RFG CEO Gary Alford said after being at the forefront of franchising in Australia for over 25 years, he and his colleagues at RFG are looking forward to celebrating the success of the industry with the public at the RFG Franchise Expo, which boasts an action-packed itinerary full of entertainment for the whole family.

“Franchising is a pillar of the nation’s economy and as leaders in this space, we recognise that we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for our loyal customers,” he said. “In an effort to demonstrate our appreciation, we invite our customers and members of the public to come down and visit us at the RFG Franchise Expo on the Gold Coast to celebrate our mutual love of food.

“Admission is free and open to all ages,” he added. In addition to food and coffee samples, the itinerary includes a Paul’s Milk Latte Art Smackdown, and Crust Gourmet Pizza’s attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest dessert pizza. In the event that the public cannot conquer 50 metres of sweetness between them, food rescue charity OzHarvest will be on hand to collect the leftover pizza and donate the slices to local charities who feed the community’s hungry and homeless.

For those interested in starting their own business, there will be ample scope to learn about franchising opportunities across RFG’s Brand Systems, including informative sessions such as a presentation by Phillip Di Bella – the visionary behind Brisbane-based specialty coffee business, Di Bella Coffee – on ‘how to build your business and personal brand’. The RFG Franchise Expo marks the beginning of a three-day Connect Conference and Trade Show, exclusive to RFG franchise partners. From Monday 26 September to Wednesday 28 September, RFG franchise partners from all over the world will be converging on the Gold Coast. Mr Alford said in addition to attendance by Australian franchise partners from each of RFG’s Brand Systems, the conference is set to attract guests from Gloria Jean’s Coffees’ international stores.

“We are excited to host representatives from 300 international coffee houses from 13 different countries,” he said. “It will be the first time since our acquisition of Gloria Jean’s Coffees that we have had the chance to come together as a Group and we look forward to collaborating, planning and celebrating with individuals and teams from across our entire network.” The Connect Conference and Trade Show agenda includes a line-up of inspirational keynote speakers, a trade show bursting with exhibitors, stimulating and informative presentations, and a suite of exciting social events for RFG’s valued franchise partners.
