Brumby’s Bakery’s famous Hot Cross Buns were extra sweet this Easter, with 25 cents from every six pack sold between 1 -17 April going to the brand’s charity partner, The Smith Family.

Throughout the Easter period, Brumby’s Bakery sold over 80,000 six packs of Hot Cross Buns, resulting in a $20,000 donation to the well-deserving charity. On behalf of the brand, Brumby’s Bakery Brand Manager, Tom Elliott expressed his delight with the support extended by franchise partners and customers throughout the campaign.

“Brumby’s Bakery stores are highly involved with their community on a local level through a variety of fantastic initiatives including leftover bread donations, and this fundraising campaign further showcased the eagerness of our franchise partners to give back to those who support them,” he said. “Our franchise partners and customers really rallied behind this particular cause, knowing that the donations from every pack of Hot Cross Buns would make a real difference to the lives of children and young people supported by The Smith Family.”

The Smith Family is Australia’s largest children’s education charity, helping disadvantaged young Australians to succeed at school so they can create better futures for themselves. The charity sponsors children to ensure they’re equipped with the necessary tools for school, including uniforms, stationery and fees. Head of Fundraising for The Smith Family, Rosie Simpson expressed the organisation’s gratitude for Brumby’s donation. “Thanks to the generosity of Brumby’s and their customers, we raised $20,000 to support the education of disadvantaged children across Australia,” Rosie said.

“It’s astonishing to realise that in Australia today, one in seven children and young people are living in poverty. When a family is finding it hard to come by life’s bare necessities, schoolwork often falls by the wayside, and the children fall behind at school. The Smith Family’s partnership with Brumby’s means we can better help these disadvantaged families.”

Brumby’s is committed to a longstanding relationship with The Smith Family and is currently exploring more initiatives for ongoing support. “Brumby’s Bakery and its franchise partners are extremely proud of the funds raised for The Smith Family during Easter and we believe this is just the start of great things to come,”

Tom said. “We are truly invested in supporting The Smith Family and hope that it will become a longstanding partnership where we can really make a difference in the lives of many young people and children living in poverty in this country.”
