While the general public winds down in anticipation of an extended long weekend or a school holiday getaway; Brumby’s bakers are hard at work with millions of Hot Cross Buns to make, bake and sell over the Easter period.

The Thursday before Easter is the most popular day for people purchasing Brumby’s famous Hot Cross Buns; so much so that Brumby’s has named the day ‘Bun Thursday’.

Of the millions of Hot Cross Buns baked and sold by Brumby’s every year, about a quarter of a million will be baked and sold on Bun Thursday – this year falling on Thursday 16 April.

Brumby’s Managing Director Kevin Waite said Brumby’s traditional scratch baking techniques helped to make their Hot Cross Buns so popular.

“Our stores bake their Hot Cross Buns fresh daily using traditional scratch baking techniques, and they will be running their ovens at full steam from now until Easter to keep up with demand,” said Mr Waite.

“We will have all hands on deck to ensure customers don’t have to wait, and are getting Hot Cross Buns fresh out of the oven!”

Brumby’s team members from across the country, including those in its South East Queensland corporate office, are each assigned to a store to assist Franchisees on their busiest day of the year. From Brumby’s Managing Director to Brumby’s Marketing Coordinators, the entire team is called in to get Hot Cross Buns freshly baked, packed and out to customers for their Easter celebrations.
With the unprecedented popularity of Brumby’s Hot Cross Buns with Nutella®, freshly baked white Hot Cross Buns filled with a generous dollop of Nutella® spread, the bakers are expecting this year’s Bun Thursday to be their biggest yet.

“We are anticipating that even people who wouldn’t traditionally eat Hot Cross Buns will be eager to try a bun with Nutella® so this could be our biggest year yet,” said Mr Waite.

As well as Hot Cross Buns with Nutella, Brumby’s will be baking both Traditional and Fruitless Hot Cross Buns.
