In 2010 Michael Dolahenty became the 100th franchisee in what has grown to be the world’s largest mobile coffee franchise Cafe2U, joining an ever-growing group of driven mobile baristas.

However, delivering great coffee to the people of the Cromer and Dee Why area isn’t what defines Michael. Lending a helping hand to bolster community spirit is what motivates him to continue to do what he does.

Recently Michael donated his time and free coffee to help with Bear Cottage’s Superhero Week, an event that was considered to be a huge success by all involved.

Bear Cottage is a local hospice that provides palliative and end of life care to children with life limiting illnesses. Superhero Week was just one of many events the Cottage puts together to bring these children and their families a some joy in a comfortable, relaxed setting.

Every little superhero has a proud parent standing behind them, and Michael was there to provide them a spark of energy throughout the day so the festivities never wavered.

“That’s one of the benefits of having the Cafe2U van,” said Michael.

“It really opens you up to being a part of special events like this. And this area is a particularly lovely place to work.”

Superhero Week was just one of Michael’s regular charitable endeavours in the local area. Earlier this year he was also involved with an initiative launched by A Current Affair to surprise Terry Hills local and cerebral palsy sufferer Daniel Clarke with a home renovation.

An estimated three-month renovation of Daniel’s home was completed in one week with the help of 55 businesses and suppliers. Michael was on hand to provide his time and coffee to keep the energy levels high for the workers over the course of the frantic, life altering renovation.
