Alan Branch of Global Franchise Partners was invited to attend the Brazil Expo 13 – 16 June 2012 as an international speaker on franchising and to represent BBX, Blow Dry Bar, Seduce and Zambrero which are four leading franchise brands from Australia. The Association of Brazil Franchising (ABF) invited Global Franchise Partners (GFP) to attend the Brazil expo which is now recognised as the largest franchising Expo in the world having surpassed the Paris franchising expo this year with superstars like legendary soccer player Pele attending the opening ceremony.
With the support of the Franchise Council of Australia (FCA) the four Australian brands were represented in the international franchise corridor of the ABF Expo next to brands from Russia, Belgium, Spain, France, USA and many others.
In 1992, the ABF Franchising Expo commenced and is now the most important trade fair for Latin American franchises. In 2011, the event welcomed 46,700 thousand visitors and had approximately 420 exhibitors. It was announced by Mr Ricardo Bomeny President of the ABF that in 2012 the exhibition area of the event had increased by 14 % and now covers a total of 31,000 square meters for over 500 exhibitors with the number of visitors and investors expected to exceed 50,000.
Based on the success of the 2011 event it is anticipated that the 2012 ABF Expo will generate approximately $200 million AUD (R$ 400 million) in business.

During the expo the ABF conducted an international franchise session where speakers from around the world provided their views on franchising trends and opportunities. Franchising in Australia is very popular with business investors and generates revenues equivalent to 18% of the Australian GDP. Over 25% of franchise systems in Australia have now commenced operations internationally. Currently franchising represents approximately 4% of the Brazil GDP and therefore significant growth potential exists for successful international franchise brands that are willing to invest and provide support for their brand within Brazil.
