An Australian Franchisee Case Study
Name Les Treuer
Location Sydney Australia
Franchise Dogtech Canterbury
Why I chose franchising
To get in to an established business with a creditable name and support network that can show me how to run the business due to my lack of previous experience.
What I did before taking up a franchise
I worked on construction sites as an installation electrician. Due to a lack of job satisfaction and career possibilities it was time to look to the future.
How I raised the finance
I raised the finance through a business loan to purchase a car, computer, fax and all necessary equipment to start the business.
The training and support I receive from my franchisor
Training and support was made available to me on a daily basis either by phone or on the job training by either franchisor or one of our senior trainers. I found their experience and support invaluable to get me to the level I am at now.
The challenges I have faced
Learning vital people and business skills that I was lacking. Riding the rough times, budgeting to cover these times and the extra effort needed to be successful.
My advice to someone thinking of buying their first franchise
Do some research on the potential of work in your particle area, talk to successful franchisee’s, work a budget plan, don’t expect immediate success and plan to put in the extra yards.
My plans for the future
To try to build a strong business based on word of mouth, have a regular clientele a good report with all outlets and fellow franchisees and looking to start regular obedience classes.
