Dymocks, Australia’s largest specialty bookseller has been acclaimed the National Book Retailer of the Year at the 2014 Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIAs).

Now in its 14th year and known as the ‘Academy Awards’ for books, the annual awards pay tribute to the book industry’s most outstanding authors, illustrators, booksellers and publishers across the country.

Dymocks’ Managing Director Steve Cox said it was an honour to be recognised as the National Book Retailer of the Year and acknowledged the hardworking and well-read people of Dymocks for their continued dedication and passion to delivering expert advice and service to booklovers across the country.

“This prestigious title is a true testament to our hardworking and passionate staff, as well as the overall in-store experience we provide to our customers and booklovers, thanks to the ongoing support of the Dymocks franchise network. I’d like to congratulate all our stores for their tireless efforts to offer customers the best value and expert knowledge to their local communities.

“To receive such outstanding recognition in front of our industry colleagues is highly rewarding and inspires us to continue to offer superior levels of service,” said Mr Cox.

As part of its ongoing support and commitment to the Australian book publishing industry, Dymocks was a major sponsor of the ABIAs.

“It’s important for us to be a part of a night that highlights the outstanding contribution Australia’s publishing industry and authors make to the country’s cultural and literary life. With Australian books accounting for almost fifty per cent of all book sales in this country, it’s only fitting we support such a great event,” continued Mr Cox.

The 14th ABIAs were held at Doltone House, Pyrmont on Friday 23 May and were hosted by Casey Bennetto, award-winning satirist and writer of the musical KEATING! and attended by Australian Prime Minister, The Hon Tony Abbott MP.
