Australian pizza maker Eagle Boys Pizza has bolstered its national expansion drive and almost doubled its Victorian presence with the conversion of key Encore Pizza stores.

Eagle Boys had six stores in regional Victoria and has added four individual Encore Pizza franchised stores to its network.   The Encore Pizza stores are located in Horsham, Ararat, Sunbury, and Colac.

In March this year, Eagle Boys cemented its position as Australia’s second largest pizza chain after opening its 300th store.   With the Encore purchase, Eagle Boys takes its store count to 322.

Under the deal, the four Encore Pizza stores have converted to Eagle Boys stores so they can take full advantage of the company’s leading brand position, business systems and marketing support. The last store of the group to open is the Horsham store which is due to officially commence trading as an Eagle Boys store on August 23.

All four stores are owned by new franchisees Chris Ashman and Peter Campbell.

Eagle Boys CEO Todd Clayton said the conversion of the Encore stores allowed the company to quickly enter new markets.

“Eagle Boys has plans for continued strong growth in store numbers, and will open 46 new stores in this year alone.   This growth is being achieved through both organic growth acquisitions,” he said.

“Given the size, population and tastebuds of Victoria, it’s an obvious market for us.   In 2008, we purchased Pizza Haven of which most stores are now rebranded as Eagle Boys. This allowed us to increase our presence in Adelaide and Sydney under the Eagle Boys banner.   The addition of these Encore Pizza stores allows us to establish a greater foothold in Victoria.

“While Eagle Boys has more than 320 stores across the country, these are mostly concentrated in Queensland, Western Australia, Adelaide and regional New South Wales. That means we still see enormous potential in markets such as Sydney, South Australia and Victoria.

“We continue to see growing demand for Eagle Boys.   The recent launch of our menu saw a double-digit increase in sales, while inquiries from potential franchisees has soared 80% during the past 12 months.”

Eagle Boys Pizza is one of Australia’s largest pizza makers and is 100 per cent Australian-owned. It operates more than 320 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT and the Northern Territory, employing more than 4,000 staff and making more than 17 million pizzas a year.
