Australian pizza maker Eagle Boys Pizza is experiencing an 80% jump in inquiries from potential franchisees, cementing its dominance as one of the country’s fastest-growing franchise systems.

During January, February and March this year, the nation’s second largest pizza maker received 808 individual inquiries – an average of 269 per month. This compares to just 447 inquiries over the same period in 2009.

Eagle Boys Pizza Managing Director Todd Clayton said he attributed the high volume of inquiries to people re-evaluating their financial and employment futures after the uncertainty of 2009.

He said potential franchisees were drawn to Eagle Boys because it offered all the support franchisees needed to own and operate a successful business.

“These days, more and more people are inclined to invest in themselves to secure their future income. As a result, they are looking to buy into a proven and successful franchise businesses,” he said.

“Following a rough 2009 many people are gravitating towards industries which have shown resilience and continued growth during the downturn. They are seeking franchise systems such as Eagle Boys which provide a strong support base for franchise owners.

“While these potential franchisees want the freedom of owning their own business, they don’t want the risk of going at it alone.   The inquiries have come predominantly from experienced business owners and people with management experience, with interest also coming from previous franchisees of competing pizza retailers.

“Buying an Eagle Boys franchise ticks a lot of boxes for people who are working towards a financially stable future,” he said.

Mr Clayton said Eagle Boys had seen sales climb since the March launch of 31 new menu items – the biggest overhaul of its menu in the company’s 23 year history.

“The new menu sales results certainly show that Australians have sophisticated taste buds and are looking for a premium pizza without the gourmet price tag.   During the first three weeks, sales spiked by more than 15% and online ordering traffic increased beyond our expectations,” he said.
