Eagle Boys’ kids meals kick goals with families

Australian Franchise News – 06-09-10

Eagle Boys Pizza has become the first large Australian pizza chain to develop a range of “Amber classified” pizzas and pastas specifically for children.

All items on the kids menu are rated Amber under The Smart Choices – Food and Drink Selector system of school tuckshop food and drink categorisation, meaning they can be enjoyed in moderation as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle.

The launch of the menu follows research showing many families are looking for dedicated children’s pizzas, as this allows parents to enjoy the more gourmet pizza offers.

Eagle Boys Group Executive Marketing Christine Hooper said from talking to parents, many told us having a special kids menu would allow them to cater to children’s tastebuds and free them to order the pizzas they’d prefer for themselves.   In the past, parents would simply have to choose the pizza which they knew their kids would like, rather than what they wanted.

The kids menu features Ham & Pineapple, Chicken Supreme, and Cheese & Tomato pizzas, along with pasta dishes Spaghetti Bolognese and Macaroni & Cheese.

Up until 26 September, Eagle Boys stores are offering an All Star Kids Meal Deal from $6.95. The All Star Kids Meal Deal includes a kids pizza or pasta, Nestle Milo Bar and Fruity Drink as well as a Free Eagle Boys soccer ball, basketball, tennis ball or football.

“By providing a dedicated kids menu, families were still able to enjoy pizza together but also ensure different taste buds were satisfied,” she said.

“At the same time, by creating a menu of Amber classified pizzas and pastas we can help parents make more informed choices for their children. This is the same food classification system used in school tuckshops so is a system which families are very familiar with.”

Eagle Boys Pizza is one of Australia’s largest pizza makers and is 100 per cent Australian-owned. It operates more than 325 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT and the Northern Territory, employing more than 4,000 staff and making more than 17 million pizzas a year.
