Australian Franchise News – 29-03-10
Australia’s second largest pizza maker Eagle Boys Pizza is expecting up to a 15% spike in sales following today’s launch of its new national “phone name” – 1300 EAGLE BOYS.
The existing Eagle Boys phone number, 13 14 33, will be phased out over the next nine months.
Eagle Boys Managing Director Todd Clayton said 1300 EAGLE BOYS would be live from 28 March 2010 and automatically channel callers through to their nearest store.
“Eagle Boys stores across the country already receive more than 270,000 calls per month. However, we expect this new phone name to have such a high consumer recall that we expect to receive 20% more calls and generate a 10-15% lift in sales.
“The decision to change a long-held phone number is never taken lightly, however the benefits of making the move were too many to ignore.
“Instead of remembering a number, pizza lovers now just have to think 1300 EAGLE BOYS.
“Research shows phone names are up to 20 times more memorable than simple phone numbers and the more calls we receive, the more sales we make. At the same time, 1300 EAGLE BOYS will increase brand awareness as customers physically dial our name.
“Importantly, the move means our phone number will now become one of our marketing tools as it not only conveys our number, but also our brand.
“This new platform also positions us for future mobile marketing platforms.”
From 28 March 2010, all national television, print, radio, digital and other marketing mediums will display the 1300 EAGLE BOYS number.
Eagle Boys Pizza is one of Australia’s largest pizza makers and is 100% Australian-owned. It operates more than 300 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory, employing more than 4,000 staff and making more than 17 million pizzas a year.
Eagle Boys Pizza was named the nation’s 2008 Supreme Retailer by the National Retail Association and received the Best Franchise award for the second consecutive year.
