Australian Franchise News – 03-02-11
Eagle Boys Pizza will open an average of more than one new store each week during the first six months of 2011 as part of its $18.5 million expansion strategy for the current financial year.
About 25% of the 31 new stores are located in and around Sydney, a relatively new market for the company, with the remainder in other states such as Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
The stores are part of a planned 46-store FY2011 rollout which has already seen 15 stores opened in the six months to 31 December 2010.
Eagle Boys CEO Todd Clayton said the company’s rapid store growth was the result of double-digit sales growth and a spike in inquiries from potential franchisees.
“While Eagle Boys is Australia’s second largest pizza maker, we still see many potential markets for us across the country as we work towards the number one spot,” he said.
“Helping to drive Eagle Boys is innovation, including new menu offerings such as gourmet pizzas and complementary side dishes, and developments in online ordering and digital technology which makes it easier for our customers to reach us.
“During the past 12 months, Eagle Boys has radically refined its menu to focus on real taste, real size and real value. With a menu now encompassing gourmet pizzas through to value favourites, we believe Eagle Boys offers pizza lovers something for all budgets and occasions.
“With each store employing around 20 staff, these new stores will help create hundreds of new jobs in local communities. The stores will purchase as much as possible from local suppliers, providing a valuable injection into local economies.”
The new stores will also incorporate the new Eagle Boys store design – the biggest store makeover in the company’s 24 year history. The new store design sees space maximised in the waiting area, additional seating, repositioned menu boards and inbuilt fridges. Behind the scenes, streamlined kitchen areas improve pizza making efficiency.
Eagle Boys Pizza is Australia’s second largest pizza maker and is 100% Australian-owned. It operates more than 335 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT, and the Northern Territory, employing more than 8,000 staff and making more than 17 million pizzas a year.
