Pacific Retail Management is raising the standards in the Australian sushi industry with its fresh take on training. Working closely with Master Sushi Chef, Hideo Dekura, the team members of the Go Sushi and Wasabi Warriors brands have travelled across the country to learn from the best at Hideo’s Kitchen in Chatswood, Sydney.

Arriving in Sydney for their 3 day training, the Go Sushi and Wasabi Warriors team members came together to perfect their skills and learn many new ones under the experienced hand of Hideo Dekura. With his roots steeped in traditional Japanese culture from Yotsua, Japan, Master Chef Dekura has spent years perfecting the skills passed down to him by his father and generations before him. Katherine Dimmick, manager of Go Sushi Toowoomba had this to say about the training, “It was fantastic! It was awesome to be able to work with Hideo and learn off him.”

Believing that one of the signature differences of the two brands is high quality, freshly hand rolled sushi, CEO Nicola Mills has no hesitation in sending her team members to these training sessions. “It is very important to us to maintain the authentic Japanese styles and influences in our sushi in the convenience market particularly in our Wasabi Warriors brand. Although Wasabi Warriors focuses more on the authenticity of the sushi flavours, it is important to also apply these techniques to Go Sushi to make sure we are giving our customers the highest quality sushi possible.”

Matthew Mace from Wasabi Warriors Elizabeth attended the first week of training and has taken some great lessons back to the store with him. “It was such a great learning experience and I really enjoyed every minute of it!”
