RFG baristas crowned two of the best coffee makers in Australia

In the competitive world of coffee, Retail Food Group (owner of the Donut King, Brumby’s, Michel’s Patisserie and bb’s cafe brands) has proven it’s a sip above the rest, with two of its best baristas crowned among the best coffee makers in Australia.
 
At the Australian Barista Championships, Central Coast local Mitchell Faulkner (RFG NSW Barista Trainer) was awarded first place in “Coffee in Good Spirits”, which required competitors to make two identical Irish Coffees using a whisky of their choice plus coffee and cream and two identical signature beverages which include any alcoholic drink and coffee of the barista’s choice.
 
Michel’s Patisserie Victorian Barista Trainer Simon James, based in Camberwell in Victoria, was crowned runner up to the Detpak Barista Champion of the year.       
 
The two winning baristas will travel to London in June to represent Australia.
 
Retail Food Group Manger Franchised Operations Deane Priest applauded the big win and said the baristas’ achievements were testament to their commitment, dedication and passion to their job.
 
“In the competitive world of coffee baristas that can make a captivating cappuccino or a luscious latte are valuable assets, so we are thrilled to have them on our team,” he said.

We are thrilled they will be travelling to London later this year to represent not only RFG, but also Australia in the world barista championships.”
 
Mr Priest said the win demonstrated RFG’s commitment to deliver quality coffee to its customers.

Mr Priest said Simon and Mitchell worked on RFG’s coffee training program, ensuring RFG baristas across Australia new how to make “a great cup of coffee”.

The Australian Barista Championship was held this last weekend from 29th-31st January on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
