On Sunday 8th August, the eve of Singapore’s 45th birthday, Crust Gourmet Pizza Bars celebrated the opening of its newest store in Holland Village, marking the first franchise outside of Australia.

Holland Village in Singapore has long been a popular eating and watering enclave for younger Singaporeans and expatriates and well known for its eclectic mix of live music joints, ritzy restaurants and casual wine bars. This popular area was abuzz with over 100 guests attending the opening night of the new Crust pizza restaurant.

The latest Asian offering is a great achievement for the franchise that has come a long way since its humble beginnings of a single store in Annandale, Sydney. This year is proving to be a year of expansion after reaching an impressive 62 stores including the opening of the first Crust in West Australia.

The leading pizza franchise is already renowned across Australia for serving high quality, healthier pizzas made to order with the freshest ingredients. It was the first pizza franchise to offer a range of Healthier Choice pizzas and independently tested nutritional details on its top selling pizzas to customers both online and in store.

Crust’s co-founder and Managing Director, Costa Anastasiadis, is extremely passionate about bringing the unique pizza concept to an international market: “Singapore is a thriving market and as soon as we visited the area we knew it was a strong fit for our business. We’ve had a great response from customers already and we’re delighted that the city has fallen in love with our pizza.

“We’re well known for offering restaurant quality pizzas combined with the convenience of a takeaway service and it’s great we are continuing to expand. People have increasingly busier lifestyles and are demanding the convenience of a takeaway product but don’t want to compromise on quality.”

Crust’s international award winning creative chef, Peter Augoustis, has developed a specific menu for the Asian market that caters for Singapore’s multi-cultural heritage and rich diversity. “We offer a wide range of choices from Mediterranean and Continental flavours to Asian inspired cuisine, there is something for everyone. We also have a range of mouth-watering starters, salads and desserts to accompany your main meal.

“All our ingredients are on display for the customers to see, the pizzas are made and cooked right in front of your eyes – all our food produce is unrefined and a class above the rest. We even offered the opportunity for some of our guests to have a go at making their own pizza on opening night and it was a great success.”

Among the guests on opening night was one of Singapore’s top food bloggers, Pey Yee (http://muchadoabouteating.blogspot.com/) and has written a review of the event. Pey Yee’s favourite pizzas were Spicy Scallops and Vegetarian Supreme, she said: “The taste was exquisite and the pizzas were done in just right heat, maintaining the freshness of the ingredients.”
