To celebrate turning 21, Aussie Pooch Mobile in conjunction with the Animal Welfare League Australia is holding a Pooch Party and the lucky pooches invited are very excited.
“Dogs are such a big part of so many people’s lives in so many different ways,” says Aussie Pooch Mobile Founder, Chris Taylor. “This year we are celebrating our 21st birthday and what better way than to celebrate with a party that rewards our dogs.”
To be held on March 27th from 10am at the Animal Welfare League of Qld’s Gold Coast rehoming centre, the dogs will be partying in style! Party food will include beef flavoured popcorn, chicken flavoured ice blocks, a very special doggy birthday cake in the shape of a bone, and of course, Pooch Cookies. It will be a visual and culinary feast for the dogs. They will be eating from silver dog bowls and treated like kings.
“While everyone loves a good party, the day is really about rewarding the dogs and the volunteers at the Animal Welfare League. Around Australia there are many organisations’ that help animals, especially dogs and most of it is voluntary. So it’s a big thank you to the volunteers as well.
“It’s also a way to raise awareness about the benefits of pet ownership, plus the benefits of pet adoption.”
And no party is complete without party hats and party games.
“Dogs love to play so we have organised games they will love,” says Chris.
There will be Dog Olympics, Bob for Biscuits in a paddling pool, Fetch, Dog Races, Musical Sit and a Glamour Photo for each pooch.
And while the party will be held at the Animal Welfare League of Qld Gold Coast shelter, it will be filmed and put on You Tube so everyone involved with dogs in every capacity, can share the party, the fun and help get the message out there, maybe even hold their own pooch party.
Furthermore, for the entire month of April, Aussie Pooch Mobile will be donating 21 cents back to the Animal Welfare League of Qld for every hit they receive on the You Tube video. Check out the Aussie Pooch Mobile website or FB Page for updates.
So onto to the party attendants – who are the lucky dogs?
“There will be dogs from Animal Welfare League coming to the party to join in the fun. So many of these dogs have been abandoned and are unable be re-homed and loved and cared for by loving owners, so we want them to have a fun day and hopefully any awareness we create, will help find new homes for these, and other dogs around Australia that need re-homing,” says Chris
AJ, who is Aussie Pooch’s mascot dog was also adopted by Chris seven years ago and will also join the festivities.
Extra special guests include Jacob Johnson and his Assistance Dog Lou who was adopted from Animal Welfare League of Qld and trained to assist Jacob who has autism.
Reilly Patterson who is also autistic and his Assistance Dog Harry, who was adopted from Animal Welfare League of Qld.
And Luke Sharpe and his Assistance Dog Gerry. Gerry was trained from a puppy to assist Luke who is in a wheel chair with Cerebral Palsy.
Aussie Pooch Mobile began the Assistance Dogs Program five years ago in conjunction with Craig A Murray Specialist Dog Trainers and Variety The Children’s Charity. “The dogs trained to help assist these special needs children are amazing,” says Chris “Not only do these dogs get a second chance at life, they help change the lives of the children.”
There will be two Aussie Pooch Mobile Operators on hand to wash and pamper the dogs, Animal Welfare League volunteers to supervise the dogs and a sausage sizzle for the adults – vegetarian sausages of course.
“Nationally there are literally thousands of dogs that need to be re-homed each year,” says say Brooke Whitney from the Animal Welfare League. “We are very lucky that all of our dogs do get re-homed, whether it takes a week, a month or a year.”
To finish the party, the dogs of course will receive party bags to take home.
“No party is complete without party bags,” says Chris. “The party bags will include all sorts of treats, which will be lovely for the dogs, especially the dogs at the Animal Welfare League. Even the dogs from The Animal Welfare League that didn’t participate in the party will receive a treat.
“Our aim for the entire year of our 21st birthday is to give back to the community, to dogs and to dog lovers, and this is a great way to start,” says Chris.
