No one can argue that pets hold a special place in our hearts and are a big part of our family, so we care for them and tend to spoil them silly.

But what about those pets that have been abandoned, have been left out on the street with no-where to go?

That’s where organisations like the Animal Welfare League of Australia become saviours, taking in these animals, nursing them back to health, feeding them, caring for them and re-homing them.

All this is done on money raised by the community.

So keeping with their community spirit, Aussie Pooch Mobile, in conjunction with Animal Welfare League Australia is launching the inaugural ‘Pooch Party Birthday Month’ from 4 October – 4 November this year.

National Pooch Party Month

“We have been involved in raising money for charities for years,” says Chris Taylor, founder of Aussie Pooch Mobile. “We held a pooch party earlier this year to celebrate our 21st birthday and to raise money for the AWLA. It was such a success we came up with the idea of making it a national fundraising event, along the lines of the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea, except we are having an entire Pooch Party Month.

“So we have partnered with AWLA to make this an official, annual fundraiser.”

How to be involved

All you have to do is hold your own Pooch Party during this month.

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to hold a Pooch Party as when you register online at http://www.everydayhero.com.au/PoochParty you will find further information you need,” says Chris.

You can donate directly to this page or if you are hosting your own Pooch Party, click on “Join This Team” link, enter the password – POOCHPARTY – and start fundraising. It’s that easy!
And if you simply log onto the Aussie Pooch Mobile Facebook page and click on Watch A Video you can view their instructional Pooch Party video showing you everything you need to hold your own party. Or contact Aussie Pooch Mobile or AWLA for further information and ideas, as they will be only too happy to help.

“We are very pleased to be part of this exciting fundraising event,” says AWLA President Grant Robb. It’s a fun opportunity for people to strengthen the bond they have with their own dogs as well as be part of a national fundraiser to raise funds for other animals that are in need. We invite you to get together with family, friends and their dogs, join in and register to help raise money for the dogs and cats of Australia who need your help.”

During this month Aussie Pooch operators will also be holding their own Pooch Parties across the nation as will the AWLA.

So start planning now. Simply register, then get together with friends, family and their pooches, and help raise money for a good cause.
