Queensland born and bred gourmet pizza makers Pizza Capers have signed on as a major sponsor for the Queensland Rugby Union. Pizza Capers is now Official Partner of Queensland Rugby Union and the St George Queensland Reds and Major Partner of their grassroots program, Rookies2Reds.
Pizza Capers Managing Director Peter Jones said the Company was excited to support a growing sport with roots in Queensland, which he says is Pizza Capers homeland.
“Rugby is a growing sport across Australia, and with the strength in their business model, Queensland Rugby Union has built the Queensland Reds into a successful club with a huge loyal following,” said Mr Jones.
“Pizza Capers was created in Queensland, with our first store opening in Kenmore, Brisbane in 1996, and now has a large footprint of outlets throughout the state as well as across Australia. With our proud Queensland heritage, we are excited to be partnering with a strong and successful Queensland sporting team in a globally recognised sport.
“In particular, we are proud advocates of the grassroots sport because it is all about family, fitness and fun, and avid supporters of the Rookies2Reds program as our stores, Franchisees and their families are located in the regional areas this program reaches.”
Queensland Rugby is the governing body for the Code of Rugby Union in Queensland and represents the interests of more than 259,000 players at over 200 clubs state wide. The St. George Queensland Reds were Super Rugby Champions in 2011, back to back Australian Conference winners in 2011/12 and finalists in 2013.
The membership drive for the Queensland Rugby Union is a strong focus for the organisation, with a 2014 target of 50,000 members. Pizza Capers aims to support this initiative with weekly offers communicated to the database and with year round Membership rewards for Reds members.
Mr Jones said the sponsorship provided the Company with an opportunity to promote healthier eating choices as part of an active lifestyle.
