Australia’s largest independently-owned mortgage broker, Mortgage Choice last week officially opened its first franchise in Gladstone, Queensland, with great fanfare.
In making the move, the new franchise owners are taking advantage of the town’s population and wage growth resulting from the resources boom. Experiencing rising local demand for a convenient mortgage broking service encouraged financial planners Des Young and Andrew Ghea to open the business.
The shopfront was officially opened by Mortgage Choice Head of Sales Andrew Russell and Queensland State Manager Ross Hardcastle on Tuesday 21 June to a crowd of local onlookers.
Other special guests in attendance included the Gladstone Mayor Gail Sellers, local radio hosts from Sea FM 95.1 who broadcasted live from the location during the opening day celebrations and an appearance by the Mortgage Choice mascot Choosey the Beagle.
“We are excited to see our brand moving into new territory with so much growth potential and are pleased to welcome a new team and franchise location into our fold,” said Andrew Russell.
“Joining a company that writes one in every 25 home loans and has over 18 years experience in this industry, our newest business will add to our goal of providing outstanding service and a time and place fitting to our customers.
“Time-poor borrowers living or working in Gladstone, such as shift and fly-in fly-out workers, can have their finance needs met by qualified and accessible mortgage broker whenever it suits them.
“The convenience of a one stop finance shop is also a welcome addition for long-time local residents and those moving into the area to take advantage of the booming resources sector.
“I’m pleased to report the launch event was a huge success in building brand awareness and the profile of the new franchise representatives. We anticipate their enthusiasm and dedication will seem them achieve their goals sooner rather than later and earn the Gladstone community’s respect in no time.”
