Australian Franchise News – 11-10-10
MYO Australia today announced the appointment of John Smith to the position of Managing Director of the retail sandwich and salad franchise.
The appointment follows a management restructure in the organisation and sees former MD Byron Smith maintaining a directorship of the company but moving into another fulltime employment opportunity.
Incoming Managing Director John Smith said the move was the decision of the MYO Australia board.
“The directors collectively reviewed the position of MYO Australia and made the decision to restructure the management team in order to maintain the strongest possible shareholder returns,” he said.
“This restructure changes the person in the position of MD but there are no changes to the company’s board of directors, which will continue to work together to set the group strategies for MYO, both in Australia and overseas.
“Byron has moved to a new challenge after many years contributing his fantastic energy and ideas to the ongoing development of the MYO brand. We wish him the very best in the new venture.”
John Smith brings immense franchise and retail industry experience and market development skills to the role having owned franchises himself and being contracted to a master franchisee training role with SNAP printing in China.
Mr Smith also worked as marketing manager for a large supermarket chain and oversaw the restructure of the franchise network for independent retailers with Foodland Associated Ltd (FAL) in 1985 – the organisation that would later become IGA.
He said the change would have no effect on the day-to-day operation of the business.
“I will continue to implement all of the strategies that have been set and build on them to help ensure the continued success of our franchise group, so for franchisees it will be business as usual.”
“I’m committed to developing the MYO brand and building strong franchisee and shareholder returns.”
