Why did you choose franchising?
I had always worked for somebody else, and at some point wanted to start my own business and work for myself, franchising offers proven methodology and processes, with the freedom to grow and develop your business.
What did you do before taking up a franchise?
Before buying my Nanotek franchise, I had various jobs both here in Australia and the UK, varying from National Stock Controller for an office supplies company to a Cabinetmaker.
How did you raise the finance?
A business loan from my bank.
What training and support did you receive initially and ongoing?
Upon commencement I received two weeks training that covered all aspects of running your own business and of course hands on training with the Nanotek (ecowash) products. On-going support and training is always available, easy to access and only a phone call away.
What is a typical day for you as a franchisee?
One of the best things about our business is everyday is different.
What challenges have you faced?
Establishing a customer base and making yourself known in the community, are probably the biggest challenges to starting a new business.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of buying their first franchise?
Make sure you do your research. Carry out the appropriate due diligence with the assistance of professionals (accounting and legal advice), making sure the sums add up for your individual situation.
What are your plans for the future?
My initial plans are to keep growing my territory with Nanotek, with the possible addition of new territories in the future. Nanotek is the global leader in mobile car cleaning and as they grow, I’ll continue to grow with them.
Would you do it again?
Yes, only much earlier.
