After another highly successful competition in 2010, the time has come for automotive apprentices across Australia and New Zealand to be acknowledged with the Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year Award for 2011.
The challenge has begun and serves to recognise technical excellence amongst third and fourth year apprentices in the automotive industry. Entries close on 3 June 2011.
Last year’s Snap-on Apprentice of the Year winner, 20 year old Wayne Grima from St Clair in New South Wales, received over $9,000 worth of tools and product and an exclusive experience at Summernats.
“Winning the 2010 Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year Award has been fantastic for my career as a mechanic. I now have complete confidence in my ability and all of the amazing Snap-on product I won has certainly helped me continue to build my career in the industry and make my job much easier,” said Wayne.
The award is open to third and fourth year auto electricians, motor mechanics, spray painters and panel beaters across Australia and New Zealand.
“Being involved with the judging process for last year’s award was an absolute pleasure, although it was hard to pick a winner with such fierce competition. Wayne was very deserving and is a great role-model for young apprentices in the industry. After a record number of entries last year, it would be fantastic to break that record again with this year’s competition,” said Melissa Smith, Snap-on Tools.
Snap-on Tools will reward the winner again this year with over $9,000 worth of Snap-on tools, including a limited edition Snap-on 54” 11 drawer Classic Roll Cab, a 1/2” drive electronic torque angle wrench, a 3/8” drive Cordless Impact Wrench, as well as an exclusive Gold Pass Extreme ticket to Summernats 2012, plus much more.
“Completing an apprenticeship requires true focus and commitment. These bright young stars involved in the Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year Award will go on to be the backbone of the automotive industry, so we see this competition as an investment in the primary industry that we serve,” said Steve Jones, National Sales Manager, Snap-on Tools.
