Facebook feeds across the country are set to be taken over by donuts as Australia’s leading donut retailer, Donut King, offers up a free classic Cinnamon Donut in exchange for a status update including the word ‘donut’.
Social media users who post a status update that use the word ‘donut’ and includes ‘#donutking’ can simply show their status on their mobile device to the staff on the same day at any of Donut King’s 315 outlets nationally and they will be rewarded with one classic Cinnamon Donut.
The massive giveaway and social media campaign is all about getting people talking about donuts, said Donut King Managing Director Nicholas Brill.
“At Donut King we love to have fun, and we love donuts,” said Mr Brill.
“We’re offering a free donut to all the other fun-loving, donut-loving people out there by starting a conversation about donuts through social media channels. All it takes is one donut, and you’re hooked!”
Donut King expects its 230,000+ Facebook fans to spread the message far and wide, with Mr Brill expecting the brand could giveaway hundreds of thousands of donuts during the campaign period.
“Kicking off today and running until 26 May, we’re expecting our classic Cinnamon Donuts to be the talk of the country over the next few weeks,” he said.
“As well as offering a free donut for a status update, we’re also asking for customers to take donut selfies – every selfie uploaded to social media using #donutking will go in the draw to win a year’s supply of donuts. We’re bringing together people’s love for taking photos of their food, taking selfies and giving them a chance to win an amazingly cool prize.”
The campaign was developed by Donut King and Sydney based AJF Partnership, and includes outdoor, radio, digital, social and in store advertising.
