FOR the second year running Xpresso Delight gourmet coffee has ranked in the top 2 for ‘Lifestyle’ in the Top Franchise ‘National Franchisee Satisfaction Survey’* thanks to its unique passive income model.
The Xpresso Delight concept, where franchisees install commercial grade gourmet espresso machines into workplaces for free with coffee charged at a low flat rate, allows franchisees to make money every time a coffee is brewed.
Xpresso Delight Newcastle Franchisee Vic Hankins, 62, said his franchise yielded him a solid income and still gave him plenty of time to indulge his passions.
“I’m a keen sailor and am currently renovating my house so I choose to spend most of my time on those activities,” he said.
“My Xpresso Delight business takes about 10 hours per week which I break up into two days. The business earns around $45,000 gross profit per annum which is very strong for the time involved.”
The coffee systems require a weekly service but Vic said the process was quick and simple.
I spend part of Monday servicing some of my 15 machines and on Wednesday morning I do servicing and some administration work and that’s it!”
“The flexibility of my Xpresso Delight business means I’m able to spend up to 30 hours per week renovating my house if need be. I also have other investments and I’m an avid reader so I need plenty of free time.”
Statistics show getting the right work balance is hardest Down Under with Australia taking top spot for longest work hours anywhere in the developed world.**
Xpresso Delight’s Stephen Spitz, who founded the business in 2003 with Paul Crabtree, said the franchise was developed with work/ life balance in mind.
“We wanted to create a business which didn’t require franchisees to turn up to work 9 –to-5 everyday and would be suitable for retirees, mums and people with other commitments” he said.
“Our business model is based on maximising the time-to-money ratio which means franchisees are able to earn better than the national average wage by working less than 10 hours per week.
“We also guarantee our franchisees will make a minimum 40 percent revenue return on capital investment within the first six months or their franchise fee is refunded which reduces some of the risk of going into business.”
