INTERNATIONAL home appliance rental franchise Mr Rental has appointed former The Coffee Club Group CEO James Nixon-Smith as its new Managing Director after the company underwent a corporate restructure to drive the company’s growth strategy.

Mr Nixon-Smith, who has a successful track record spanning more than twenty years within the franchising industry including companies Battery World, Eagle Boys Pizza and Caltex, replaces Alan Payne who has moved to head up the rental franchise’s newly created international division.

Mr Rental Managing Director Nixon-Smith said it was an exciting time to join the franchise.

“Mr Rental is implementing a number of strategies to drive strong domestic growth and with plans for further international expansion it’s a fantastic opportunity for me to join and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

“I hope to bring my experience in business development, team development and change management to the table as we go through our next growth period. This year alone we expect to open 14 stores to our current 91 across Australia and New Zealand.

He said the new international division would investigate the feasibility of overseas markets but Mr Rental’s main focus would remain on current markets.

“Mr Rental’s business model has huge potential overseas but it’s about determining the best strategy to enter each market.

“We’ve attracted a lot of overseas attention with recent awards and we’ve had a number of approaches but at this stage it’s important to continue the 20-25 percent average year-on-year revenue growth in current markets to ensure we’re in good stead to head overseas.”
