Franchise Step into Life
Why I chose franchising
I didn’t particularly go out looking for a franchise. I wanted a way to be a Personal Trainer and earn enough income to support myself. Step into Life was a way I could achieve that.
What I did before taking up a franchise
I have always worked in an administration and/or Customer Service role. For about 18 months before I purchased the franchise I was a 1 on 1 Personal Trainer.
How I raised the finance
I had available money in managed funds.
The training and support I receive from my franchisor
Right from the start there has always been a lot of support from the franchisor. If there is ever a question or something I have not been sure of there is always the support there to work it through.
The challenges I have faced
My challenges come from being single and not having someone to let off steam with after a session. Training groups of people can sometimes be crazy! I have learnt the importance of keeping my health and fitness as my first priority before the franchise. The franchise doesn’t work if my health and fitness isn’t 100%.
My advice to someone thinking of buying their first franchise
Do your homework. Read the small print yourself. Ask the franchisor and franchisees questions – ask about everything. Get a really good feel for how the business operates and what you will be expected to do to make it successful. Make sure there are no doubts.
My plans for the future
After 5 years I still really love what I do. I have plans for the future – which I keep putting off! I thought by now I would be really bored with it. Whilst I have had my moments they are not enough for me to think about moving on. I am sure that whatever does happen next I will be either running my own business or another franchise.
