Franchisee’s name: Brenton Tilbrook
Franchise: bb’s Café
Location: Seaford

What was the catalyst for setting up your bb’s Café franchise?
I went down the franchisee route because I loved the freedom of working for myself. I was a business-owner 10 years prior to owning the bb’s franchise, and it was great. Before owning bb’s café Seaford I worked in the automotive industry selling equipment and chemicals for 17 years. I was inspired to do something different and so I went down the road of coffee. With the help of family and their support I was able to get moving and open the franchise.

How has the franchisor training helped you in business?
When I first started, I did a 6 week training course which helped me to learn everything that I needed to know and get the support that I needed. The course developed my skills and helped me to become more confident in my franchise. After this I’ve had ongoing support and assistance through the BDM and start-up crew. The help is always there.

Describe a typical day for you as a bb’s Café franchisee?
A day in the life of a franchisee requires working hard and running the business. I put in a lot of hours to make sure that I see successful results. Meeting customer needs and also making sure the business is on track is something that I focus on daily. I’ll be honest, owning any franchise isn’t a walk in the park but putting in time and effort is very rewarding.

What challenges have you faced?
The biggest challenge is working to earn a good profit. As I said before, success comes from hard work and thankfully we have a great team that helps to assist in this.

Has becoming a bb’s Café franchisee changed your life, if so how?
It definitely has positively changed my life. I enjoy the work and it’s something that I’m passionate about. After owning this franchise we’ve built great relationships with our customers and it’s become like a big family. Our store has a great environment which I love as well and I definitely wouldn’t change a thing.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of buying their first franchise?
The best advice that I can give is to be prepared to work and put in the time to see success. Dealing with customers is another important aspect. It’s all well worth it and rewarding to look back and see how far you’ve come.

Any plans for the future?
Continue working at bb’s and seeing great success in the business. I’ve been working at bb’s for over 13 years now and I’m confident that there is more to come.
