The challenge begins on 15 April 2010 and serves to recognise excellence amongst third and fourth year apprentices in the automotive industry. Entries close on 5 June 2010.

Last year’s inaugural Snap-on Apprentice of the Year winner, 24 year old Nadja Lenehan from Halls Head in Western Australia, received over $8,000 worth of tools and product and an exclusive experience at Summernats.

“My career in the mechanical industry has changed dramatically since being awarded Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year 2009. The amount of people that have recognised me and the work I do is truly rewarding and still so exciting. The Snap-on product I won has also made my job a lot easier,” said Nadja.

The award is open to third and fourth year auto electricians, motor mechanics, spray painters and panel beaters across Australia and New Zealand.

“It was a real pleasure to be involved in the judging panel for the Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year 2009. We had a tough time getting through all the entries. Nadja was a great winner, proving to be an excellent ambassador for the industry. I would like to challenge more apprentices to have a go this year,” said Owen Webb, Paint and Panel expert and Summernats Top 20 judge.

Snap-on Tools will reward the winner from each field with over $9,000.00 worth of Snap-on tools, including a Snap-on limited edition Grafitti Combo (roll cab and top chest), an ETHOS94 Scan Tool, a 1/2”DR Impact Wrench, as well as an exclusive Gold Pass Extreme ticket to Summernats 2011.

“Fulfilling an apprenticeship requires determination and complete commitment. Enabling an apprentice to own professional quality tools from the beginning of their career encourages them to strive and excel at their trade”, said Steve Jones, National Sales Manager, Snap-on Tools.

“Apprentices are a fundamental part of the automotive industry’s future and will ensure that a high level of trade skills are retained in Australia. Investing in apprentices is an investment into the primary industry we serve”, Steve continued.
