Crust Parap Franchisee Sally Illingworth has been nominated as a finalist for Franchise Woman of the Year in the Franchise Council of Australia’s Northern Territory & Queensland Excellence in Franchising Awards.
Since opening the Northern Territory’s first Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar just over a year ago, the twenty-year old has become nationally recognised, credited with making Australia’s largest pizza in 2015.
“It’s been a whirlwind journey so far but I’ve received so much amazing support and this nomination is really the toppings on the pizza,” Sally said.
As the youngest franchisee in the Crust Network, Sally has worked hard to cement Crust Parap as a must visit pizza bar in Darwin, throwing her support behind some worthwhile causes.
During the Daly River floods Crust Parap donated one hundred pizzas to over four hundred residents who were forced to evacuate their homes.
“Helping others and giving back to the community is vital to running a successful business. My key philosophy is to lead by example and to treat others the way you wish to be treated,” Sally said.
“We have contributed to a variety of community groups, events and charities over the past year and will continue to show our support to the local community wherever we can.”
In addition, to their community support Sally has also initiated a ‘Crust Kids’ program, which invites school classes on excursion to Crust Parap to educate students about the importance of vegetables and proteins for health and well-being.
Sally said she owes her success to her perseverance and positive attitude.
“Since opening my store in 2014 at the age of eighteen, I have proven to myself that I can achieve whatever I set my mind on,” she said.
Judging of each category is in progress, with the winners to be announced at the Awards Gala dinner held on Monday 8 February.
