Brumby’s ‘Buns of Choc’ trump Easter competitors: CHOICE

Australian Franchise News – 11-04-11

Brumby’s Double Chocolate Hot Cross Buns have been named the best of their field in Australia this Easter, according to a recent CHOICE Magazine taste-tester.
CHOICE set its staff to the test, performing randomised blind tasting on hot cross bun varieties from Coles, Woolworths, Tip Top, Bakers Delight, and Brumby’s, with Brumby’s Double Chocolate Hot Cross Buns named the best of their kind.
Brumby’s Marketing Manager Megan Thornton attributed the success of Brumby’s Double Chocolate Hot Cross Buns to their quality ingredients and the company’s bakers’ skills.
“Brumby’s use fresh, quality ingredients in all our baked goods, and all our hot cross buns are baked fresh daily,” Ms Thornton said.
“We also use quality Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate in all our Double Chocolate Hot Cross Buns and it was this rich, chocolatey flavour that outranked other chocolate hot cross bun players.”
Ms Thornton said Brumby’s traditional hot cross buns also rated highly in the tests.
“CHOICE ranked Brumby’s famous traditional hot cross buns among the best in the country, so we?re predicting they’ll once again be a huge hit this Easter,” she said.
“Baked fresh daily, Brumby’s famous hot cross buns are crammed with currants, sultanas and exotic spices and have been a hit with Aussie families for decades.”
The Easter bunny will also deliver two new hot cross bun flavours to Brumby’s this Easter, to cater to growing demand – Raspberry with Cadbury Milk Chocolate for the kids and Orange with Cadbury Milk Chocolate for the adults, in addition to their existing fruitless variety.
“Our talented bakers’ will be baking from 2am on Bun Thursday before Good Friday to ensure families get their long-awaited hot cross bun supply in time for Easter,” Ms Thornton said.
“This year there’s a hot cross bun for everyone at Brumby’s – our variety of hot cross buns ensures there’s something for the whole family to enjoy,” she said.
Originally eaten on Good Friday, the popularity of hot cross buns has prompted many bakeries to sell them in the lead up to the Easter period.
Ms Thornton said the Easter long weekend was traditionally one of the company’s biggest selling weekends of the year.
“Brumby’s bakers have already been on a roll, baking millions of hot cross buns to keep up with demand, so we once again look forward to what is traditionally our busiest trading day of the year,” she said.
Brumby’s operates more than 300 stores across Australia, employing over 3,300 staff and serving more than 700,000 Australians a week. Brumby’s is owned and managed by ASX Listed Retail Food Group (RFG), a leading Australian retail food brand manager and franchisor.
