7-Eleven Australia was recognised with two awards at the Australian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS) Gala Dinner in Sydney last Thursday night.

  • Johnny Singh, 7-Eleven Lindfield, New South Wales – AACS Major Retail Franchised Store of the Year 2014
  • Callum Mackay, Peter Jowett Industry Award for the retailer category 2014

The first win of the night was AACS Major Retail Franchised Store of the Year for Johnny Singh’s Lindfield 7-Eleven store.

7-Eleven’s CEO, Warren Wilmot, said he was very pleased with the industry accolade for Johnny and his team.
“Johnny is one of our leading Franchisees and it is wonderful to see him recognised for his efforts by our industry.

He and his employees provide our customers with a market leading convenience offer in all of his 10 stores, including Lindfield. Johnny is a previous 7-Eleven Franchisee of the Year, and is a member of our Franchisee Advisory Council,” Warren said.

“We are very proud to have Franchisees like Johnny as part of our Franchisee family. We make no secret of the fact that we want to attract and retain the best Franchisees in the country to be part of our ongoing success.

To do that we need to make sure we are giving our Franchisees market leading support to grow their individual businesses, and deliver prosperity.

The recognition our Franchisees have received from our industry in recent years gives me great confidence that we are achieving that,” he said.

In the second win of the night, Callum Mackay, Retail Support Project Coordinator, was awarded the Peter Jowett Industry Award for the retailer category. Callum was recognised for his ideas on enhancing the customer experience to deliver a sustainable competitive advantage into the future.

As the winner of this award, Callum will represent Australia at the Global Convenience Industry Achievement Awards at The NACS Show in Las Vegas, which will be held from 7-10 October 2014.

Mr Wilmot was very proud of his team for collecting two awards, and said the entire 7-Eleven team would be celebrating the wins.

“I’d like to congratulate Johnny and Callum for their wins, and say well done to the entire team for their contribution to this success at the AACS awards,” Warren said.

7-Eleven has enjoyed significant success at the AACS awards in recent years, winning AACS Major Retailer Head Office of the Year Award in 2012 and 2013, the AACS Major Retail, Franchised Store of the Year in 2012 and 2013, and the AACS Peter Jowett Award for the retailer category in 2011 and 2012.
